About use of various languages

14-20. About RightToLeft language

Languages that is read or written from right to left direction: Arabic, Hebrew and Persian are called RTL (RightToLeft) languages.
If you send or receive email in these languages, you need to know about differences between LTR (Left to Right) language and RTL language.

14-20-1. Numbers and punctuations

In RTL languages, numbers and punctuations usage are different in each OS.

For example, Hebrew system of Macintosh handles numbers of ten keypad same as English direction, and of alphanumeric keys as Hebrew number.
But the latter Hebrew number are not included in ISO standard. Macintosh and Windows handles numbers differently and even Magellan uses gimmick to indicate correct direction of number as far as possible, direction sometimes cannot be corrected.

14-20-2. Processing and indication of RTL

To handle RTL languages correctly, Magellan supports right indent (not right adjust). In new mail window, you can invert indent with command+I. You can use this function on TextClip too.

Mail Manager and mail window shows these RTL languages in right indent automatically.

14-20-3. Send and receive email right to left text direction

You can reply or forward right-indented received email. Magellan can send message correctly to other email client software. Quote > is added at the correct position.

14-21. Notes by concerning language

Russian

Magellan changes encoding automatically to suit for each Cyrillic languages: Serbian, Bulgarian, Ukrainian, Byelarussian. We cannot confirm sending and receiving of Bulgarian, Ukrainian and Byelarussian complete characters now. If you have ever experienced any trouble in these languages, please let us know.

Hebrew

Because of essential difference between Macintosh and Windows concerning handling of Hebrew characters, following problems are known.

*Multilingual mail in Hebrew and English processed on the Macintosh cannot be correctly indicated on Windows. The inversion occurs on numbers and approximate characters of punctuation. Even Magellan makes efforts to correct this, perfect compatibility cannot be expected.

*Brackets"(", "[" invert.

It is because decoding process of Windows are incorrect, Magellan cannot solve this.

*Handling of 2 kinds of numbers; numeric pad and alphanumeric key

Ten-key pad number is handled as English. Alphanumeric key number is handled as Hebrew however, as this characters are not included in ISO standard, if email includes the characters they need to be handled as multilingual message. Magellan send MultiScript or Unicode. If receiver is on Macintosh, the order of number is correct. If receiver is on Windows, they invert.

Arabic
